Welcome back for the May issue of Pasta Girl News! This month we have a new addition to the newsletter.

Read what's happening around the globe in Italian food. There might be something right in your home town. Or you may be inspired to travel to another part of the world and experience a new area with new people and traditions to share great food and wine with.

Food and Wine is always a great inspiration for me to travel.

This months crazy Italian joke:

Q: Why are most Italian men named Tony?
A: Because when the got on the boat to come to American they stamped TO NY (to new york) on their passports.

Lastest Italian Pasta Recipes

Ham Pasta Salad

As the weather heats up we want to keep cool in the kitchen. So Italian pasta salads are the way to keep it fresh, delish and colorful. Just like this Ham Pasta Salad made with perfect bite size piece of ham, juicy, red tomatoes and a blend of unique spices.

New Pasta Shapes Additions

Four new pasta shapes added to the, soon to be, largest collection of pasta shapes pictures and descriptions on the web!

Mezze Maniche which means short sleeves in Italian
Schiaffoni Pasta looks a lot like paccheri pasta.
Scialatelli Pasta, little folded ribbon pasta and
Strangoloni, the sister to the priest strangler of strozzapreti.

Pastacheese.com is my favorite go to site for finding unusual pasta shapes and great quality pasta brands. Take advantage of their Benedetto Cavalieri Pasta Sale!

My latest Gourmet Cookbook Recommendation.

Lidia Matticchio Bastianich has got to be one of my top ten Italian chefs and inspirations. Here is a woman who was raised in Italy and came to the United States, bringing her heritage and Italian cooking traditions along with her. Then creating a life and an industry from her passion and talents for cooking great tasting, authentic and fresh Italian food. Lidia's Italian American Kitchen is one of my favorites but all her cookbooks are so great! Be sure to check out BookCloseouts.com for really great deals on all your cookbooks. If you find the book you want, BUY IT! They sell quickly and most of the time once they are gone, they are gone…

Food Festivals and Events

Taste of Tribeca

The month of May, Tribeca holds it's annual "Taste of Tribeca" food festival. I can't think of a better place to sample the eclectic cuisines from all over the world but in the Big Apple.

The festival will have local restaurants exhibiting their best. Famous names like Nobu and The Palm along with other top names in restaurant fair.

I'm going just for the Lamb Meatball Master's cook off but that's just one of the many great events happening at Taste of Tribeca festival this month.

Buy your tickets here now for this fabulous foodie event.

Best Pasta Restaurants

Arturo, a regular at Pasta-recipes-by-Italians.com, recommends Trattoria San Nicola. He swears by their green salad and the delicious Mushroom and vegetable frittata.

Trattoria San Nicola
4 Manor Rd
Paoli, PA
Phone: 610-695-8990

Although Arturo swears his ancestors were not Italian he has the heart (and the marriage) of an Italian and the good taste to prove it.

Thank you Arturo for all the fun additions to the site.

If any of you have a favorite restaurant you'd like to give kudos to, go to my Gourmet Restaurant Recipes page and tell us all about it!

So my fellow Pasta Foodies, this concludes my second issue of my monthly newsletter. Thank you for all the great emails and for signing up and remember…
